Probationary Firefighter Hiring Process

The application and hiring process follows the steps as outlined:

• Applicant's must review information package and application forms.
• Completed application form is submitted directly to fire administration. 

Applicant will undergo a 5-stage process:

Stage 1 - Application Submission

Stage 2 - Interview 

Stage 3 - Physical Testing in full firefighting gear:

• Consent waiver & release form
• 5 minute run
• Raise & climb extension ladder
• Advance a 2 1/2" hose line 
• Dummy drag
• Tools task and carry

Stage 4 - Conditional offer of employment, applicant must complete the following:

• MTO Drivers Abstract
• Vulnerable Sector police records check
• Medical Examination Report & Appendix A 

Stage 5 - Offer of employment for Probationary Firefighter is made by the Fire Chief.
